A 24-year-old student of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has denied soaking her boyfriend's food in water and shredding his clothes and mattress following a disagreement.

Ummulkheir Hassan Abdi, according to court papers, threatened to kill her lover, Blavion Mwenda Kirima, with a kitchen knife on June 6, at Omega area in Kayole.

She allegedly damaged 18 pairs of trousers, 21 shirts, a pair of shorts, three Jackets, underwear, a mattress and food.

On that day, Abdi and Karima, who is a shoe seller, met at Nairobi's CBD.  Having been lovers for some time, they decided to go to Karima's house in the evening.

After supper, Karima's went to bed. Shortly afterwards, Abdi is said to have started smoking. The complainant was unhappy about her conduct and he asked her why she was smoking instead of going to bed.

This irked her and she turned on the lights, reached out for a kitchen knife which she placed by the bedside and allegedly threatened to kill him.

She demanded that they talk about their relationship, saying she suspected Karima was cheating on her.

A heated argument ensued and escalated into a physical fight. Karima snatched the knife from her and threw it away. He got a chance to escape and sought refuge at a neighbour's house, leaving her in the house.

It was when the accused allegedly cut his clothes and mattress into pieces and soaked flour and rice in the water.

Karima said he was shocked when he went back to his house and found extensive damages. He made a report at the Obama Police Post, leading to the arrest of the accused who denied the charges. She was granted a cash bail while the case will be heard on January 16.
